Cyclone Murasu Puts Andhra On Alert

Cyclone Murasu has brought fresh weather concerns to Andhra Pradesh, with several districts expected to face strong winds and heavy rain. Disaster response teams have been placed on alert as authorities work to protect people in the affected areas.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed 14 teams across Andhra Pradesh after the cyclone made landfall on Tuesday, November 3. Three of these teams were moved from Tamil Nadu.

NDRF Deputy Inspector General Mohsen Shahedi said the landfall process began around 1 am and was completed by about 9 am, based on information from the India Meteorological Department.

Authorities have identified six districts in Andhra Pradesh as likely to face the strongest impact. NDRF teams are working with the State Disaster Response Force and local officials to manage the situation.

Teams have also been deployed in Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and northern Tamil Nadu, which may experience the cyclone’s effects.

Shahedi said the system was expected to weaken gradually, reducing its impact beyond Andhra Pradesh. Officials reported no casualties at the time of the update.
