Eluru (One Town), Oct 31: A tragic incident marred Diwali celebrations in Eluru when a massive explosion occurred, killing one and injuring six. The accident took place on East Street as Sudhakar, a local resident, was transporting firecrackers on his bike.

According to reports, Sudhakar was carrying a bag filled with “onion bomb” firecrackers. As he neared the Ganganamma temple, a pothole caused the bag to slip from his bike, triggering a powerful explosion. Sudhakar was killed instantly, with his body dismembered from the blast’s impact, while six bystanders sustained serious injuries. Two of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and have been admitted to Eluru Government Hospital.

Police arrived on the scene to conduct a thorough investigation and have registered a case. Authorities are looking into possible safety violations associated with firecracker handling.

Andhra Pradesh Minister Parthasarathy expressed deep concern over the incident, urging citizens to exercise caution when handling fireworks. He directed the police to increase vigilance, especially during festive periods, to prevent similar accidents.
