Amaravati: The Central Election Commission (CEC) has released the schedule for the elections of five Member of Legislative Council (MLC) seats under the MLA quota in Andhra Pradesh. As per the notification, nominations will be accepted starting March 3, with March 10 as the deadline. If voting is required, elections will be conducted on March 20.
However, with the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) lacking the required numbers to contest these seats, all five positions are expected to go uncontested, ensuring a unanimous election in favor of the ruling alliance.
Vacant MLC Positions
Janga Krishnamurthy, who switched from YSRCP to TDP before the last general elections, resigned from his MLC post, leaving the seat vacant since May 15, 2023.
The tenure of four TDP MLCs—Duvvarapu Rama Rao, Parchuri Ashok Babu, B. Thirumal Naidu, and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu—will end on March 29.
The upcoming elections will fill these five MLC seats, all of which are expected to be secured by the ruling alliance without a contest.
