Anantapur: Former MLA Anantha Venkat Rami Reddy has criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly politicizing the Sri Rama chariot fire incident in Hanakanahalli, Kanekal Mandal, Rayadurg constituency. Reddy accused Naidu of leading a smear campaign against YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, falsely blaming the YSRCP for the incident in a bid to tarnish Jagan’s political image.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Reddy highlighted that the fire was the result of personal enmity and condemned the TDP for trying to exploit the tragedy for political gain. He pointed out that TDP MLA Kalva Srinivasulu had initially informed the media, with video evidence, that the incident was not politically motivated. Officials, including the District Collector, had confirmed that the fire stemmed from personal disputes, not political unrest.
Reddy also revealed that individuals arrested in connection with the fire included members of both the YSRCP and TDP, along with neutral parties. He criticized the district SP for shifting the narrative after Naidu expressed suspicions, and he warned that any further attempts to provoke unrest would not be tolerated.
Reddy urged the public not to be swayed by false accusations and called for calm while authorities continue to investigate the incident.
