Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is witnessing heavy rainfall, leading to widespread disruption across several districts. In Visakhapatnam, continuous downpours have prompted authorities to declare holidays for all government and private schools, following orders from District Collector Harendhira Prasad.

The NTR district is also experiencing extensive rainfall, with District Collector Srijana announcing a holiday for all schools. The situation is severe in Kondur Mandal, where the Krishna Rao Palem-Keshyathanda river has seen a significant rise in water levels, disrupting traffic. Additionally, all 70 gates of the Prakasam Barrage have been opened, releasing 3,32,374 cusecs of water, leading to alerts in the Krishna River catchment areas.

In Prakasam district, heavy rains have been lashing Markapuram and Yerragondapalem since Friday night. The Kattaleru river between Totamula and Vinagadapa in Gampalagudem Mandal is flooded, cutting off access to 20 nearby villages. Nandigama Mandal is also affected, with Nallavagu and Vaira rivers overflowing, halting traffic on key routes.

Vijayawada has seen severe waterlogging, particularly in low-lying areas, causing significant difficulties for motorists. Machilipatnam is also grappling with heavy rains, leading to roads being submerged under floodwaters.
