Witnesses said the impact sparked flames that quickly engulfed the bus. Many passengers were asleep when the fire broke out and had little time to react. A few broke windows and jumped out, while others were trapped as the flames spread rapidly.

Local villagers rushed to the scene and began rescue efforts before fire engines arrived. They used water cans and sand in desperate attempts to control the fire. Firefighters reached within minutes but struggled to contain the blaze for nearly an hour.

Police confirmed that the bus carried over 40 passengers. The rider of the motorcycle also died instantly. Survivors were rushed to Kurnool Government Hospital, where several remain in critical condition. Officials are using DNA testing to identify the victims, as many bodies were charred beyond recognition.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep grief and ordered an immediate investigation. He directed officials to provide full support to the injured and families of the deceased. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced ₹2 lakh compensation for each victim’s family and ₹50,000 for the injured. The Telangana government also offered ₹5 lakh to affected families.

Police have detained one driver for questioning, while the search for the second driver continues. Forensic experts are examining the site to determine what caused the explosion.

The Hyderabad Bengaluru bus accident once again highlights the urgent need for stricter road safety norms. Experts are calling for fire-resistant bus materials, better emergency exits, and regular vehicle inspections to prevent such tragedies.
