Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police have registered cases against several social media influencers and TV actors for promoting illegal betting apps. Among those booked are Imran Khan, Harsha Sai, Testy Teja, Kiran Goud, Vishnupriya, Anchor Shyamala, Ritu Chaudhary, Bandaru Seshayani Supreeta, Sudhir, Ajay, Sunny Yadav, and Sandeep.
Authorities invoked sections 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with sections 3, 3(A), and 4 of the Telangana State Gaming Act (TSGA) and Section 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2008, in the case.
The crackdown comes as part of an intensified effort to curb online gambling, which has been linked to financial losses and addiction among users. Officials warned that legal action will continue against individuals and platforms endorsing such illegal activities.
