Vijayawada: APPC president YS Sharmila emphasized the party’s commitment to democratic candidate selection, distinct from regional parties’ practices. She protested at the Income Tax office on Saturday and participated in a few party programs.
Accusing both YSRCP and TDP of capitulating to Prime Minister Modi, she lamented AP’s lack of justice on issues like special status and Polavaram. Sharmila said that YS Jagan has no right to ask for votes.
Sharmila criticized Jagan’s purported theatrics regarding special status, citing the silence of 23 YSRCP MPs on the matter. Promising significant reforms if Congress secures power, she pledged a decade-long special status, implementation of the Mahalakshmi scheme providing Rs. 1 lakh annually to women, and a Rs. 2 lakh loan waiver for farmers.
Additionally, she vowed to implement the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, offer a 50% higher support price on agricultural produce, and institute a monthly pension of Rs. 4,000 for the elderly.
