Tadepalli: Former Minister Kurasala Kannababu criticized the state government for spreading misleading information about finances, law and order, and governance during a media briefing on Thursday.
Highlighting discrepancies, Kannababu noted that the government’s claims on state debt ranged from ₹10 lakh crore to ₹14 lakh crore, while budget documents confirm the actual figure as ₹6 lakh crore. He also pointed out that Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s claim of 30,000 women being trafficked sharply contradicts the assembly’s official figure of 46 missing women.
Refuting allegations of ₹3,000 crore spent on building coloration, Kannababu clarified that only ₹101 crore was allocated for painting and whitewashing, as disclosed in the assembly. He also dismissed claims of unauthorized constructions at Rushikonda and criticized the government for backtracking on promises to hike volunteer honorariums to ₹10,000 while suggesting the volunteer system’s discontinuation.
Kannababu further highlighted the steep rise in essential commodity prices and increasing power tariffs under the guise of smart meters. Accusing the government of mismanaging state finances, he stated that ₹50,000 crore in loans were taken in just five months.
The assembly session, he said, has exposed the falsehoods propagated by the government and demonstrated its lack of fiscal discipline.
