Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, shared his remarks over the controversial Uniform Civil Code (UCC) introduced by the Central Government.

On the 11th of July, Tuesday, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao slammed the PM Narendra Modi led Government for introducing the UCC.  He said, “India is blessed with multiple cultures, traditions, castes, and religions and stands as a role model in advocating unity in diversity to the world.”

The Telangana CM said, “It is clear that the imposition of UCC is a malicious attempt by the Union government.  The BJP government has been ignoring the development of the country and people’s welfare for the last nine years.  The BJP plotted to instigate people by promoting divisive politics by raking up clashes between the communities to derive political benefits through the UCC bill.  It is the main reason, we are opposing the UCC bill which is being introduced by the BJP led government soon.”

The statement came during a meeting between Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao and Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, the President of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.)  The duo met to discuss the welfare of minorities in the Telugu State and the UCC.

Furthermore, after the meeting, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao also said the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) would oppose the UCC, if tabled in the upcoming Parliament Session.   In this regard, CM KCR directed the parliamentary party leaders K. Kesha Rao and Nama Nageshwar Rao to prepare the ground for the activities to be undertaken in both houses of the Parliament.
