Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Information Technology and Urban Development Minister of Telangana, took to Twitter and announced a good news, especially those living in the Old City.
In his Tweet, shared on the 11th of July, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao wrote, “Hon’ble CM KCR has instructed the Municipal Administration department to take forward the Metro project in Old city of Hyderabad He also spoke to Chairman of L&T which is the agency executing the Metro Rail Project to expeditiously take up the project and promised all needed support.”
The tweet announcement came after Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, approved the construction of a metro in Old Hyderabad.
Notably, extending the Hyderabad Metro rail to the Old City area has been a long pending demand of Old City residents. Leaders of various political parties have taken up the issue in the recent past, with All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi bringing it up in numerous public speeches.
Finally, with the approval of the Telangana CM, it is becoming a reality for the residents of the Old City.
