Kodela Siva Prasad Rao, the former Assembly Speaker of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and a member of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP,) passed away on the 16th of September.
According to sources, Kodela, who tried to commit suicide on the 16th of September, passed away while receiving treatment at the Basavatarakam Cancer Hospital in Hyderabad.
Kodela Siva Prasad Rao allegedly committed suicide due to numerous criminal cases against him, including those involving corruption.
According to his family members, Kodela was depressed over the filed cases against him and his family members.
Kodela’s family members said, he allegedly went to his room after having breakfast, when he did not come down for long, his family members went to his room and saw him attempting suicide. They immediately rushed him to the hospital, where while treatment he lost his life.
Mr. Kodela served as the Assembly Speaker of AP from 2014 to 2019, under the leadership of the TDP.
Kodela Siva Prasad joined the TDP in 1983 under the leadership of the N.T. Rama Rao (NTR,) who founded the TDP. Later he was also elected as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) six times and represented the TDP in AP.
