K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Satmithi (TRS,) on the 12th of March, criticised thr Central Government.  The criticism was made over the decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Government to privatise years old the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP.)

Recently, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government announced to disinvest in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) also known as VSP and privatise it’s government stake.

However, besides Andhra Pradesh people, Telangana Government and KTR also extended his support to the people of A.P. for the protest.

During a media meet, Mr. Rao said, “Everyone has the right to respond on the issues pertaining to our country. We are Indians first and then telanganites. If the government remained tight lipped over issues in the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, then who will speak up for Telangana in the future.*

He also said, “In 2003, PM Modi had criticised Man Mohan Singh over the hike in LPG price. And now, if the BJP is voted, it would be clear that the people are agreeing to the centre’s decision on hike in fuel prices.”

The Minister said that the TRS Government is working for the welfare of the employees and had promoted 35,000 employees in January this year. He further continued that the Goernment arranged Rs 100 crore funds for the lawyers.

Taking a jibe at BJP party, KT Rama Rao challenged Ramachander Rao to visit Osmania University. He also ridiculed the BJP leaders had studied in Whatsapp university. “The opposition remained silent after the TRS government released a white paper on creating of employment opportunities in the State.”

Meanwhile, in Andhra Pradesh, the Nara Chandrababu Naidu led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are working to save the plant.

To save the plant as a public sector, a few TDP leaders are conducting indefinite hunger strike.

The hunger strike and agitation of the TDP leaders would continue until the Government of India (GoI) announces the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to remain in the public sector.
