Amaravati: Education Minister Nara Lokesh has officially relaunched the mid-day meal scheme for intermediate students in Andhra Pradesh. The initiative was inaugurated at Payakapuram Government Junior College in Vijayawada. Alongside Minister Lokesh, Minister Satyakumar, MP Shivnath, and Bonda Uma participated in the event, which included an inspection of the college’s chemistry and physics labs.
Speaking to the students, Lokesh emphasized the importance of education in securing a bright future. “If you study well, you can secure a good job and take care of your family. Government schools are being developed to rival private institutions,” he said.
Lokesh also encouraged students to face challenges with confidence, sharing his own experience of losing the Mangalagiri election in 2019 but returning with determination. He urged students not to let exam failures affect their morale and highlighted the government’s efforts to create an inclusive education system.
Under the coalition government, the mid-day meal scheme, previously halted by the YSRCP, has been reinstated in junior colleges. Lokesh also revealed plans to address gender stereotypes in textbooks and emphasized keeping the education system free from political influences.
