The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has registered a case against the death of eight people during the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) roadshow.

It is to be noted, on the 28th of December, Wednesday, 8 people, lost their lives due to a stampede in Kandukur, Nellore.  The incident occurred during the road show of Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in the Kandukur region of the Nellore district.  The eight deceased were said to be TDP workers, who were present to attend the meeting and died due to suffocation and shock amid the stampede.

Besides eight people’s death, many people were left injured due to the heavy rush of people who gathered to attend the roadshow on the night of the 28th of December.

The NHRC registered a case after Mr. Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav, a doctor from Vijayawada, filed a complaint with the NHRC on the 29th of December.   In the complaint, Mr. Ambati Naga Radhakrishna said that during the TDP roadshow, approximately 8 people died and many were left injured.  He added that the publicity stunt of Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the National President of the TDP, caused trouble to the people of Kandukur, who were present during the roadshow.  The NHRC registered the case days later, on the 18th of January, Wednesday.

Furthermore, Mr. Ambati Naga Radhakrishna requested the NHRC to investigate the Kandukur incident and demanded strict action against those responsible for the stampede incident.  He also demanded justice and compensation for the victims who died in the incident and the families who lost their kin.

Although Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu announced Rs. 25 lakh compensation, Mr. Ambati Naga Radhakrishna demanded justice for victims and action against the organisers of the event in Kandukur.
