Krishna: Krishna District Joint Collector Gitanjali Sharma has intensified actions in the ongoing ration rice embezzlement case involving former minister Perni Nani’s wife, Jayasudha. Fresh notices have been issued following a detailed investigation into the case, which revealed a significant shortfall of ration rice in the warehouse.

Initially, a preliminary inquiry by the Civil Supplies Department found a shortage of 185 metric tons of ration rice, for which Jayasudha had already paid a penalty of Rs. 1.68 crore. However, a comprehensive investigation has now concluded that the total shortage amounts to 378 metric tons.

In light of the increased deficit, the authorities have issued new notices requiring Jayasudha to pay an additional penalty of Rs. 1.67 crore. Joint Collector Gitanjali Sharma emphasized in the notices that the additional fine must be remitted promptly.

The case highlights the government’s firm stance on corruption and mismanagement in the public distribution system. Officials have assured that further actions will be taken to recover the dues and ensure accountability.
