Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM to stump for BJP candidates on Feb 7-8 in a strategic push ahead of the Feb 11 civic polls.
In a significant political turn ahead of the 2026 Telangana municipal elections, Jana Sena Party chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has agreed to actively campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) across key urban constituencies in the state.
The announcement came after a high-level meeting in Hyderabad on February 3, where Pawan Kalyan met with Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao to discuss the upcoming civic polls. The discussions, described by party leaders as “wide-ranging and meaningful,” culminated in Kalyan’s decision to support the BJP’s election campaign.
According to Rao, Kalyan responded positively to the BJP’s request and will participate in election rallies and outreach programmes on February 7 and 8, just days before polling on February 11.
The BJP and its allies are contesting local body elections across seven municipal corporations and 116 municipalities in Telangana, a contest that is shaping up as a multi-cornered fight involving the ruling Congress, BRS, and several regional parties.
Political analysts view Pawan Kalyan’s involvement as a strategic effort to energize BJP voters and strengthen its position against dominant regional rivals, particularly in urban areas where local issues like infrastructure development and civic services are key voter concerns. His presence on the campaign trail is expected to draw attention to the BJP’s efforts to expand its influence in Telangana’s civic governance.
