Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, flagged off Vande Bharat Express in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
The inauguration was held on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the 15th of January, via video conferencing. The new Vande Bharat train would run between Secunderabad (Telangana) and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh) covering the distance between the two Telugu states in 8 hours and 30 minutes.
During the inauguration, Mr. Narendra Modi said, “Vande Bharat is a true replica of India which is coming out of the mentality of dependence and moving towards Atmanirbharta (self-reliance.)”
The regular services of the train would start on January 16 and the bookings commenced on Saturday, the 14th of January. The Visakhapatnam Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express (20833) would begin at 05:45 A.M., and would reach Secunderabad at 2:15 P.M. In return journey, the express would leave Secunderabad at 3:00 P.M., and it would reach Visakhapatnam at 11:30 P.M. In between, the train would have stations, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Khammam and Warangal in both the directions.
The train comprises 14 AC Chair Car Coaches and two Executive AC Chair Car Coaches with a capacity of 1,128 passengers. Along with it, the train would provide the fastest travelling facility between these two stations with exclusively reserved sitting accommodation.
