Amaravati: Police are intensifying their investigation against Vaikapa leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi in the abduction and assault case, gathering strong technical evidence. CCTV footage from the gated community in Rayadurgam, Hyderabad, where Vamsi resides, has been examined, revealing crucial details. Footage also captured Vamsi’s followers taking the victim, Satyavardhan, to Visakhapatnam, first to a flat owned by Chebros Srinu and later to a hotel. Vijayawada police have seized these recordings.

The police have approached the SC and ST special court, seeking 10-day custody of Vamsi to further probe the case and locate other accused individuals. An earlier petition was withdrawn due to technical errors and re-filed, leading the Magistrate to issue notices to both parties. The case has now been transferred from the fourth ACJM court to the SC and ST special court.

Vamsi’s lawyers have filed a bail petition in the SC and ST court, arguing that he poses no threat to anyone. Another petition requests permission for home-cooked meals and a bed in jail due to health concerns, including back pain. The hearing is expected on Tuesday.

The Patamata police have recorded Satyavardhan’s statement before Second Additional Junior Civil Judge Apparao in a closed court session. The police ensured media secrecy during the process. Meanwhile, Vaikapa chief Jaganmohan Reddy is set to visit Vamsi at the district jail on Tuesday morning.

Vamsi has also approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in another case filed by real estate trader Kasaraneni Venkata Panduranga Rao (Rangababu). The case, registered by Gannavaram police on January 21, 2024, relates to an attack incident. Vamsi claims political motives behind the renewed probe and has sought bail protection from the court.
