Prakasam District Put Hold On Vaccination Drive, To Resume From February 3rd

Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh put a hold on the continuation of the Novel Coronavirus vaccination drive. 

According to the sources, T.S. Chetan, the Joint Collector of Prakasam district, on the 29th of January announced to pause the ongoing vaccination drive.

The drive would be halted from the 31st of January to the 2nd of February. While vaccination for staff at government hospitals would restart from the 3rd of February, it would for private hospital staff from the 6th of February.

The decision to halt the ongoing administration of vaccines was taken in the wake of the Pulse Polio programme.

In regard to this, the Joint Collector conducted a review meeting with the medical and health staff.

During the meeting Mr. Chetan said they have completed vaccination for 10,340 healthcare workers till now and would start giving the vaccine to the staff at private hospitals from Saturday.

He ordered the medical staff to temporarily hold the vaccination programme from the 31st of January to the 2nd of February.

The district collector also asked the doctors and ground level staff to be alert in the vaccination process.

The nationwide vaccination drive started from the 16th of January, with two India made vaccines.

The two India made vaccines are the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited made COVAXIN and the Serum Institute of India (SII) made Covisheild.
