YSR Kadapa: Former MLA and YSRCP spokesperson Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy has sharply criticized TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu for failing to fulfill his election promises on liquor policy. Speaking to the media in Kadapa, Rachamallu highlighted the unchecked proliferation of substandard liquor and exploitation of traders, which he said are harming public health and safety.

Rachamallu pointed out that despite promises to reduce prices and improve quality, the cost of liquor in Andhra Pradesh remains higher than in neighboring states. He cited examples such as a Kerala brand priced at ₹85 elsewhere being sold at ₹99 in the state. Additionally, he accused the government of reducing traders’ profit margins to 9.5% instead of the promised 20%, forcing them to adulterate liquor and overcharge consumers.

He also raised alarm over the rise of unregulated “belt shops” and permit rooms, contributing to easy access to alcohol even in rural areas. This, he argued, is a factor in increasing violence against women.

Rachamallu demanded immediate action to regulate liquor sales, reduce prices, and shut down unauthorized outlets, urging the government to honor its pre-election commitments and safeguard public welfare.
