In the wee hours of the 22nd of May, Monday, Mr. Kethu Viswanatha Reddy, a renowned story writer who unveiled life in vivid detail in his short stories and novels, passed away.
The Telugu writer who got fame for his novel depicting the beauty of Rayalaseema region in the same dialect in stories, passed away in Ongole region of Andhra Pradesh. The 84 year old writer was at his daughter’s residence in Ongole where he passed away, confirmed reports.
Highlighting about Kethu Viswanatha Reddy, he was a recipient of Central Sahitya Akademi award and several other awards in the literary field. He was a well known teacher and had retired as a director in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University.
Originally from YSR Kadapa District, Dr. Kethu Viswanatha Reddy started was a prominent name in the Telugu language and literature. His PhD thesis was on, Kadapa Zilla grama namalu (Kadapa district village names) which was the first of its kind as it dwelt with how the names of villages originated, their archeological, historical, linguistic and social relevance.
Meanwhile, some of the major literature works of Dr. Kethu Viswanatha Reddy are Anaadivaallu, Kethu Viswanatha Reddy Kathalu, Verlu – Bodhi, Icchagni, Japtu, Drishti, Deepadaarulu, Parichayam, Patrikeyam, Sangamam and Mana Kodavatiganti.
