
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has hailed late former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as the architect of India’s economic reforms and a leader of integrity. During a special session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly, Revanth introduced a condolence resolution and praised Singh’s exceptional contributions to the nation.
Highlighting Singh’s illustrious career, Revanth Reddy recalled his roles as an adviser to the Union Finance Department, RBI Governor, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Union Finance Minister, and Prime Minister. The CM emphasized that Singh revitalized India’s economy between 1991-96 and revolutionized it further with landmark policies during his tenure as Prime Minister from 2004-14.
Revanth credited Singh for paving the way for Telangana’s formation by passing the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act in 2014. He lauded Singh’s initiatives, including Aadhaar, Employment Guarantee Scheme, RTI, and NHSRM, which brought structural reforms and social justice. Singh’s policies also boosted India’s IT sector and supported tribal and land rights with the Forest Rights Act and Land Acquisition Act.
Revanth proposed installing a statue of Manmohan Singh in Hyderabad’s Financial District and urged the nation to honor him with the Bharat Ratna. He described Singh as a visionary whose legacy will inspire future generations.
