Hyderabad: The Telangana government announced it will issue notices to individuals ineligible for welfare schemes after discovering that some beneficiaries do not meet the criteria. Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari advised officials to hold off on issuing recovery notices until clear guidelines are established. The matter will be discussed in upcoming assembly meetings.
The state found that support pensions intended for poor families below the poverty line are being misused. Government employees, their family members, and those receiving government family pensions were found to be receiving ‘Asaara’ pensions against the rules. An inquiry has been ordered to address this misuse, and the state plans to cancel the pensions and recover amounts already received by those found ineligible.
However, due to public criticism, the CS has directed officials to refrain from issuing recovery notices until new guidelines are in place, ensuring only deserving beneficiaries receive support.
