The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) announced that the Lord Venkateswara Temple at Tirumala would remain shut for 12 hours, on the 8th of November, Tuesday.

According to sources, there is a lunar eclipse (chandra grahan) on the 8th of November, due to which, the TTD authority decided to shut the temple.  In this regard, Mr. Y.V. Subba Reddy, the Chairman of the TTD and Mr. A.V. Dharma Reddy, the Executive Officer (CEO) of the TTD said, all the darshans including Srivani, Rs. 300 darshan, Arjitha services, VVIP darshan and other darshans would be cancelled for the 8th of November.  

The temple doors would be closed from 8:40 A.M., to 7:20 P.M., due to lunar eclipse.  Besides temple, the TTD has also decided to close down potu (temple kitchen) and the massive Annaprasadam complex till the conclusion of the eclipse.  The temple and the Annaprasadm building would be reopened after purifying rituals. 

However, darshans of the Lord Venkateswara, after the reopening of the temple would be allowed from a distance, Vaikuntha 2 Complex, after the lunar eclipse is over.

Notably, the lunar eclipse would begin at 2:39 P.M., and is said to be till 6:27 P.M.
