Ahead of the 2022 New Year’s celebration, the Visakhapatnam City Police announced restrictions.

According to sources, for the New Year celebrations, the City Police banned vehicular traffic on the beach road. The Traffic Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Mr. Adinarayana issued a statement regarding the same, on the 30th of December.

According to the issued statement, visitors and vehicles would be restricted to RK road, Jodhgullapalem, Sagarnagar, Rushikonda, Bhimili and Yarada beaches. The vehicular traffic would remain closed from 8:00 P.M., to 5:00 A.M.

All types of vehicular traffic would be banned on Beach Road from the 31st of December 10:00 P.M., to 5:00 A.M., from the Naval Coast Battery to Bhimili. The authorities said that the Telugu Talli flyover and NAD flyovers would also be closed. In addition, BRTS Road from Hanumanthavaka to Adavivaram Junction, Goshala Junction to Vepagunta Junction, Pendurthi Junction to Convent Junction via NAD Junction would also be closed. As part of the curfew, the line between BRTS Road from Maddilapalem Junction to Rama Talkies and the underpass at the RTC Complex would remain shut from 10:00 P.M., to 5:00 A.M.

Besides, anyone found violating the vehicular traffic ban, would have to face strict action. Additional police would be deployed on special patrol to keep a watch on bike racers and cars. In addition, restaurants, bars, hotels and shops should be kept open as per government norms and strict action would be taken against those violating the rules.

It is to be noted, the Andhra Pradesh Government strictly restricted celebrations in public places, parks and roads and urged the people of Visakhapatnam to abide by the COVID-19 rules and celebrate the New Year peacefully.
