Besides Bharat Bandh, the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) employees and trade unions have also called for the Visakhapatnam bandh on Monday, the 28th of March.
The bandh would be followed by a sit-in protest on the 29th of March, Tuesday, against the Central Government, which announced plans to privatize the 30 years old plant. The VSP privatization is an ongoing issue in Andhra Pradesh. The State Government and the VSP workers are asking the Central Government to roll back their decision and let VSP be in the public sector. In regard to this, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra, asking him to rethink the decision of privatizing the years old public plant into a private one.
However, the Central Government seems firm with their decision and said there would be no going back from the privatization decision. The VSP privatization is a major issue of concern for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
The VSP employees and the VSP Conservation Struggle Committee would also conduct bike rallies and protest rallies, in the City on Monday. In addition, the Visakhapatnam banks also expressed support for these concerns and called for a dharna at the Union Bank Regional Office in Seethammadhara, raising their concerns.
However, the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (RTC) would work normally, as the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Government has not announced extending support to the bandh.
However, the RTC workers and employees would work wearing black badges, expressing solidarity with the called bandh.
