In the development of the Wrestler’s Protest against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Chairman Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Delhi Police registered a case.
On the 29th of April, Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the WFI Chief and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Member of Parliament (MP) has been booked in the sexual harassment case. The first information report (FIR) was registered after the wrestler’s seven day long protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi.
Reacting to the FIR, Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh addressed the media and said that he is ready to cooperate with the agencies and has full faith in the judiciary. In an interview with the media, Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said, “I am innocent and ready to face the investigation. I am ready to cooperate with the investigative agency. I have full faith in the judiciary and I respect the order of Supreme Court.”
When asked about the rumors of resignation, Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh refuted all the rumors and said that he won’t resign as he is not a criminal. He also informed that his tenure is about to get over after the federation elections. Mr. Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said, “Resignation is not a big deal but I am not a criminal. If I resign, it will mean that I have accepted their (wrestlers’) allegations. My tenure is almost over. Govt has formed a 3-member committee and elections will be held in 45 days & my term will end after the elections (sic.)”
Meanwhile, the wrestler’s are likely to continue their demand of strict action against the WFI Chairman Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
