Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) on the 13th of May, reacted to the opposition of the Telangana Government for using Krishan river water.
Mr. Reddy said, it would be inappropriate to politicise the Krishna river water issue and object to the new lift irrigation project of Andhra Pradesh associated with the use of Krishna water.
The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said the project is being undertaken at Pothireddypadu to get water allocated to A.P., and it is possible to take 44 thousand TMC water from Pothireddypadu if the water level is at 881 feet.
In addition, Jagan Mohan Reddy said there is no chance for any state to utilise more than their share.
The statement of Mr. Reddy came after the Telangana Government raised objection to the new irrigation project of A.P., Government.
On the 11th of May, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana opposed the decision of Andhra Pradesh Government to construct a new lift irrigation scheme.
The new scheme would lift Krishna river water from Srisailam Project, which would affect the interest of Telangana as it connects Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. It is also the fourth biggest river in terms of water inflow and river basins area.
