Mr. Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) conducted a meeting to review the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in A.P.
During the meeting on the 17th of August, Mr. Y. S Jagan Mohan Reddy asked officials to prepare for the possible third wave of the Wuhan virus (Novel Coronavirus.) He asked them to ensure hospital facilities to the needy and enhance the health department to tackle the third wave. Briefing about the oxygen availability, the officials said, there are 20,464 oxygen concentrators and 27,311 oxygen cylinders available in the state. They added 104 oxygen plants would be ready by the end of August and 16 more by the second week of September 2021, ensuring no scarcity of oxygen in A.P.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) President Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy even asked experienced health officials to share their experiences of handling the first and the second wave and train junior health officials. The officials were also directed to activate the drug control department to keep an eye on the spread of spurious drugs in the market.
In addition, the A.P., Chief Minister also asked to speed up the ongoing vaccination drive and vaccinate the large number of A.P., people. He also asked the concerned officials to ensure the people are following all the guidelines of COVID-19 and the recently extended night curfew in the State. In order to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, the State Government imposed a night curfew, which was extended till the 30th of August. The night curfew is between 10:00 P.M., to 6:00 A.M.
On the vaccination front, officials said so far 1,82,00,284 persons have been administered the vaccine, of which 66,01,563 have been given two doses.
After reviewing the situation, the State CM asked the concerned officials to ensure that the village and ward volunteers are engaged in conducting door to door surveys to identify suspected cases of COVID-19 infection. Lastly, the CM asked about the Nadu Nedu programme in the Health Department, directing officials to complete hospital renovation works under the Nadu Nedu initiative.
Speaking about recruitments in the Health Department, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said to complete the recruitment process without any further delay.
Yesterday’s crucial meeting regarding the COVID-19 situation was held at the YSRCP Camp office in Tadepalli, Andhra Pradesh.
