Vijayawada: YSRCP President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has criticized the arrest of Vallabhaneni Vamsi as a fabricated case, calling it a reflection of the declining law and order in Andhra Pradesh. Jagan accused the Chandrababu Naidu-led government of misusing state institutions to frame false cases and warned the police against acting on political orders.
Speaking to the media after visiting Vamsi in Vijayawada sub-jail on Tuesday, Jagan outlined the events leading to the arrest. He alleged that on February 11, police threatened Vamsi’s family, followed by a statement from his brother on February 12 claiming Vamsi had kidnapped Satyavardhan. Vamsi was arrested the next day, with Satyavardhan’s statement recorded only after the arrest. Jagan called this a blatant misuse of power, driven by false testimonials.
Jagan pointed out that Satyavardhan had previously stated in February 2023 that Vamsi was not involved in the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office and was not present at the scene. Despite this, the TDP government reopened the case, turning Satyavardhan into a witness (A71) and filing a false kidnapping charge against Vamsi. Jagan criticized the rapid arrest and lack of due process, warning that such actions undermine the rule of law.
He urged the police to act impartially and warned that the TDP government’s misuse of power would have consequences. Jagan also called for resistance against the filing of false cases, citing similar actions against other YSRCP leaders.
