Guntur: YSRCP President and former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has strongly criticized the coalition government, accusing it of neglecting farmers who are struggling to sell their produce. Visiting the mirchi yard in Guntur, Jagan interacted with farmers and demanded that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu personally address the crisis.
He pointed out that ever since the new government took charge, farmers have been deprived of Minimum Support Price (MSP), and buyers have vanished from the market. The mirchi price has plummeted from ₹27,000 to ₹8,000 per quintal, with lower yields and rising input costs adding to the crisis. Tenant farmers are particularly affected, struggling to sustain their livelihoods.
Jagan highlighted that the distress extends beyond Guntur to Krishna, NTR, Bapatla, Prakasam, Kurnool, and Anantapuram districts. He blamed the government for failing to review the agricultural crisis and scrapping YSRCP’s farmer-friendly policies, including MSP for 24 crops, RBKs, crop mapping via CM App, and Integrated Farm Labs.
With cotton prices dropping below ₹7,000 and tomato farmers suffering losses, Jagan urged the Chief Minister to wake up to the crisis and take urgent steps to protect farmers.
