Tadepalli: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has announced its plans to bring critical issues such as social media activist harassment, Polavaram dam, and the proposed Wakf Board (Amendment) Bill to the forefront during the upcoming Parliament winter session.
During a Parliamentary Party meeting chaired by former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, strategies were discussed to address these concerns. Speaking to the media, MP Pilli Subhashchandra Bose emphasized that the party will vehemently oppose the Wakf Board (Amendment) Bill, citing potential discrimination against minorities. Legal options are also being explored to counter this move.
The party expressed strong disapproval of the police’s alleged harassment and illegal detention of social media activists and political opponents in Andhra Pradesh, calling for adherence to human rights and the rule of law.
YSRCP plans to protest against the Centre’s decision to reduce the height of the Polavaram dam and demand an expedited Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package for displaced persons.
Additionally, the party will oppose the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) and advocate keeping it in the public sector. They also intend to push for the clearance of pending bills from the Centre.
