Covid-19 Updates: With 37,148 New Cases, Total Crosses 11.5 Lakhs

Compared to the 20th of July, on the 21st of July, India reported a dip in the daily spike with 37,148 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus.

On the 20th of July, the total new cases reported of the Novel Coronavirus were 40,425.

The cases registered in the past 24 hours took the total surge to 11,55,191 cases.

Though the cases decreased, the recovery rate dropped to 62.60 % from the previous 62.90%.

However, India’s COVID-19 case fatality rate is said to be improving, as it at 2.4 %, which is one of the lowest in the world.

Meanwhile, this is the 9th day, India reported more than 30,000 new cases.

The Union Health Ministry yesterday, credited the efficient clinical management of hospitalised cases for this achievement. Enhance tracing, testing and treatment is one of the major reasons of big everyday spike in the Novel Coronavirus.

On the 21st of July, the Union Health Ministry, updated the key figures of the COVID-19 situation in India.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the case fatality rate (CFR) has fallen below 2.5% for the first time.

Positive cases: 11,55,191

Active cases:4, 02,529

Recovered/discharged: 7,24,578

Deaths: 28,084

Single day recovery: 24,491

Single day spike new cases: 37,148

Single day death cases: 587

The majority of the cases are from Maharashtra, Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. While the Maharashtra Government and the Delhi Government increased the number of tests to control the spread, Kerala, West Bengal, Bihar and Karnataka Governmentgovernments announced a partial lockdown in containment zones.

 

Meanwhile, the human trials of Bharat Biotech’s vaccine for coronavirus COVAXIN, began at Rohtak’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences.

If approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) the vaccine could be launched as a cure for the deadly virus which broke out 8 months back, in December 2019.

Another Coronavirus vaccine development by the University of Oxford and AstraZeneca Plc recently, conducted human trials and gave positive results to cure the Novel Coronavirus.

However, it is yet to be approved and would conduct another phase of human trials in a larger number.

China’s CanSino Biologics Inc. and a partnership of Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech S.E

also delivered positive trial updates, pointing to progress in the pursuit to defeat the pathogen.

Globally, the Novel Coronavirus affected as many as 14,768,166 people and claimed 611,755 lives till the 21st of July.

The United States of America (U.S.A.,) and Brazil are top two nations with the highest number of cases, 3.9 and 2.12 millions respectively.

India stands at third position in terms of worst COVID-18 hit nation with 1.5 millions cases.
