On the 16th of October, India recorded 15,981 fresh cases of the Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.) Compared to the 15th of October, a decrease of the single day cases have been recorded in India. As per the data, the active cases declined by 2,046 or 5.7 % compared to the previous day.
Besides 15,981 new cases, the nation recorded 166 fatalities and 17,861 recoveries. The new cases were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday Morning. According to the Union Ministry data, the total cases of the Wuhan virus reached 3,40,53,573, of the total 2,01,632 are active cases, 3,33,99,961 are recovered/discharged cases and 4,51,980 are deceased cases till date.
The cases were confirmed after conducting a total of 9,23,003 sample tests, taking the number of COVID-19 tests to 58,98,35,258 in India.
The updated figures of the Wuhan virus are available on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.)
In addition, the national recovery rate of the Wuhan virus improved to 98.08 %, fatality rate is at 1.32 % and active cases of COVID-19 are at 1.45%.
The major cases of the Wuhan virus are being reported from Southern India, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Besides the southern region, Maharashtra also has the maximum number of active cases. It is to be noted, Kerala has the highest 96,421 active cases, followed by Maharashtra (33,157,) Tamil Nadu (15,451,) Karnataka (9,607) and Andhra Pradesh (6,588.)
On the other hand, Over 97.14 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far including 1 crore doses administered in the past 24 hours, under the nationwide vaccination drive. Soon, India is going to cross the 100 crores mark of administering COVID-19 vaccination in India.
Currently India has 10,53,11,155 doses of COVID-19 vaccines left, which would be given to the people of India.
