In a breaking news incident, as many as 125 passengers traveling on a flight from Italy tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)
The charter of EuroAtlantic Airways, a Portuguese company, landed in Amritsar, Punjab from Italy, this afternoon at 1:30 P.M. There were 179 passengers, including 19 children, on the chartered flight from Milan that arrived in Amritsar. In addition, according to sources, the flight made a technical halt at Tbilisi (Georgia.)
After landing at the Amritsar Airport, the Health Authority of the concerned city, conducted a RT-PCR test, following which a total of 125 people tested COVID-19 positive. All adult passengers were tested on arrival as Italy is one of the high risk countries for Omicron. After the tests, the majority of passengers were COVID-19 positive.
Notably, the passengers who are Covid positive will be sent to institutional quarantine. There has been a huge spurt in COVID-19 cases across India.
Meanwhile, India, on the 6th of January, Thursday, reported over 90,000 new cases, a steep 65% jump – with a surge in Omicron cases as well.
