On the 14th of December, Singapore approved Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine for the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.

Singapore signed advanced purchase agreements and also made early down payments for the vaccine.

Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong said, expected delivery of the first shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech’s vaccine would be by the end of December.

Mr. Loong also said, nearly 5.7 million people are expected to get the dose of vaccination by June 2021.

The vaccination would be free of cost for citizens and long term residents.

However, with the first dose frontline personnel, the elderly and the vulnerable would be vaccinated.

Lee Hsien Loong said, “My colleagues and I, including the older ones, will be getting ourselves vaccinated early. This is to show you, especially seniors like me, that we believe the vaccines are safe.”

The announcement was made through a National broadcast for the citizens of Singapore.

The Singapore Government even decided to set aside 1 billion dollars for COVID-19 vaccine shots.

In addition, the Singapore Government is all set to reopen the Country and ease COVID-19 rules and regulations after the 28th of December.

Till date, Singapore has 58,325 COVID-19 positive cases, of which 58,208 are recovered/discharged cases, 117 active cases and 29 deaths.
