The Telangana Government led by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is likely to speed up the ongoing Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccination drive.
Recently on the 19th of August, the Telangana Chief Secretary (CS) Mr. Somesh Kumar said, in the next 15 days, Hyderabad would be a 100 % vaccinated region of The State. During an interaction with medical experts and Health Department officials on Thursday, Mr. Kumar assured to vaccinate every citizen of the City.
During a workshop, CS Somesh Kumar asked the concerned medical department officials to ensure and work in accordance to vaccinate 100 % of the population of Hyderabad. In regard to this, the medical staff were asked to conduct a survey to ensure all the eligible people get their first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
The Health Secretary S.A.M. Rizvi, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner D.S. Lokesh Kumar, Collectors of four districts and other officials were present during a workshop at BRKR Bhavan in Hyderabad.
The K. Chandrashekar Rao led TRS Government even created a team of health officials to supervise the ongoing vaccination drive. The Telangana CS Mr. Somesh Kumar is supervising the vaccination drive, keeping a track of vaccinated people, availability of doses and other medical needs for the vaccination drive in the State.
In addition, the Director of Public Health of Telangana, Mr. G. Srinivasa Rao said, “In Hyderabad, we have vaccinated more people than the estimated population as per the Centre. In the city, nearly 117 per cent people (100 per cent accounting for the Centres estimate of the population) have taken at least one dose of the vaccine, showing encouraging signs of herd immunity.”
Meanwhile, to achieve the set aim of vaccinating 100 % people of Telangana, the State Government is set to deploy 80 more mobile vaccination vans, adding to the existing 80 vans. In addition, the Telangana Government might take strict actions like restricting non vaccinated people from entering public places in Hyderabad.
