On the 15th of September, the Telangana High Court (HC) reviewed the ongoing Wuhan virus (COVID-19k situation and arrangements of the Government to fight the third wave.)

The HC bench consisting of the Acting Chief Justice Mr. Ramachandra Rao and Justice Mr. Vinod Kumar, reviewed the matter. During the Court proceedings, the bench warned the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government to be prepared with all the medical facilities, vaccine doses and other arrangements for the possible third wave of the deadly Novel Coronavirus. The HC bench said, “If the Government failed to take immediate action we will intervene in the case for further action.”

In addition, the HC also asked the K. Chandrashekar Rao Government to ensure safety of children, as the Government reopened schools and educational institutions.

Responding to the warnings of the Telangana High Court, Mr. B.S. Prasad, the Advocate General , representing the TRS, said the health wing was coordinating with others as the educational institutions had restarted. He also informed that an expert committee conducted a review meeting to discuss the possible third wave of COVID-19. The meeting with the top TRS and other concerned officials was held on Wednesday, the 15th of September.

The AG of the TRS also highlighted the milestone achievement of vaccinating 2 crore people, after the special vaccination drive launch.

Upon hearing the reply of the Telangana Government regarding the possible third wave of the Wuhan virus, the HC ordered the KCR Government to submit a report. The report should include planning and arrangements which would be made to tackle the third wave of the deadly pandemic. The report should also include the highlights of the recently held meeting of the State expert committee formed to tackle COVID-19.

The Court asked the AG of the TRS to submit the detailed report by the 22nd of September. The next hearing regarding the matter is scheduled on the 22nd of September.

Meanwhile, according to the medical experts and the World Health Organisation (WHO) the third wave of the COVID-19 is expected in mid October.
