Recently, a wedding in Khamman district of Telangana was reported to be the super spreader for the deadly Wuhan virus also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

The wedding was held on the 14th of May, 250 people were invited to the event, of which 100 people tested positive for the Wuhan virus. It is said, the Wuhan virus or Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) victims include the bridegroom’s father, relatives and friends. In addition, the deadly Wuhan virus killed four people who attended the wedding

All the guests violated the Wuhan virus norms and restrictions imposed by the Telangana Government. It is to be noted, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) strictly imposed restrictions on the number of guests at a wedding. As per the guidelines, only 50 people are allowed, which include cook, priest, bride, groom and their immediate families. According to sources, not only were there hundreds of guests, but they also failed to follow the basic guidelines like wearing face masks, sanitizing every 20 minutes and maintaining social distance.

The incident came into light days after the event, when many guests complained having COVID-19 symptoms and were tested positive. The negligence of the attendees and organisers affected 100 people who are now COVID-19 positive and also became the super spreaders of the virus.

Acting immediately, the concerned officials are taking all the measures to curb the spread of the disease by performing tests and contact tracing.

Meanwhile, with the help of strict vigilance and ongoing lockdown, Telangana’s active COVID-19 cases reduced to 38,267. In addition, from the previous 6,000 cases per day, the State is now reporting below 4,000 single day COVID-19 cases. The recovery rate of Telangana also improved with more than 90 % recovery rate and 0.54 % fatality rate.
