After reporting below 1,100 cases of the Wuhan Virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19,) Telangana reported a slight rise in the daily cases.
In the past 24 hours, Telangana registered 1,197 new cases of the Novel Coronavirus with 9 fatalities and 1,707 recoveries. The updated COVID-19 figures were confirmed through a health bulletin released on the night of the 21st of June, Monday. According to the health bulletin, the Telangana medical department conducted as many as 1,19,537 sample tests for COVID-19 in between the 20th and the 21st of June, taking the total tests to 1,76,45,176 till date.
Compared to COVID-19 data in May, the cases in June reduced rapidly. In June Telangana witnessed a decline in the Wuhan Virus cases. From more than 4,000 single day cases, the State started reporting cases below 2,000. The major reason behind the reduction in the cases is said to be imposed lockdown. The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government imposed a strict lockdown in Telangana. The lockdown in Telangana which started from the 12th of May, was extended thrice and continued till the 19th of June.
Recently, after considering the COVID-19 situation and economic situation, K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana lifted the lockdown from the 20th of June.
However, of all the 33 districts, regions of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC,) Nalgonda and Suryapet districts still remain the regions with the highest number of single day cases. While the GHMC reported 137 cases, Nalgonda and Suryapet reported 84 and 72 cases respectively in the past 24 hours.
In addition, the State has 217 active containment zones compared to the previous 312 zones. Of these 217 zones, 10 containment zones are in Hyderabad, 60 in Nalgonda, 31 in Mahabubabad, 22 in Jagtial and 24 in Bhadradri Kothagudem.
With this, till date, Telangana has 6,14,399 positive cases, of which 5,93,577 are recovered/discharged cases, 17,246 active cases and 3,53,576 death cases.
In addition, the case fatality rate (CFR) stands at 0.58% increasing from 0.50% at the beginning of May.
The recovery rate meanwhile has improved to 96.61% from the previous 96.52 %
