The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Students Union of India (NSUI) criticised the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government for reopening schools and educational institutions from the 1st of July.

Recently, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government lifted the imposed lockdown and announced to reopen schools and educational institutions in Telangana from the 1st of July.

In regard to this, the BJP Spokesperson Krishna Sagar Rao said that the Central Government has issued fresh guidelines on COVID-19 unlock. While announcing the new guidelines, the Government of India instructed the respective states and union territories to follow extra cautionary measures while opening the public and private sectors. However, the Telangana Government ignored the guidelines and announced to reopen schools.

Mr. Krishna Sagar Rao said, the Telangana Government should refrain from taking inhuman and irresponsible decisions. He also cited the examples of Delhi, Maharashtra, and Andhra Pradesh where unlocking was done in a phase wise manner and the decision was made to conduct online classes.

Along with the BJP unit in Telangana the NSUI has also expressed concern over the Telangana Government’s decision to reopen the educational institutions. Addressing the media on the 21st of June, the NSUI Telangana President B. Venkat said schools and colleges should begin only after all the students are vaccinated. He further added, K. Chandrashekar Rao, took the decision amid the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19.)

He said this decision would result in spreading the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) especially when the third wave is expected in October.

Mr. B. Venkat said that the health and medical experts have warned that if a third wave occurs it could have a serious impact on children. Despite such warnings, the State Government is ignoring these alarms and took the decision without considering the interests of the students and their families.

Concluding the interview, the NSUI President said, if the TRS Government would not withdraw orders of reopening schools, the NSUI would start a State wise protest.

Meanwhile, till date, Telangana has 6,13,202 positive cases, of which 5,91,870 are recovered/discharged cases, 17,765 active cases and 3,567 death cases.
