Telangana Reports 455 COVID-19 Cases With 3 Deaths In 24 Hours

On the evening of the 1st of August, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updates about the Wuhan virus cases (Novel Coronavirus) situation in Telangana.

The every day cases of the State are now below 800 since the past 17 days, taking the active cases to 8,873 from the previous 9,141.  In the past 24 hours, Telangana reported 455 new cases, 3 fatalities and 648 recoveries from the deadly virus.  With this, Telangana now has 6,45,406 positive cases, of which 8,873 are active cases, 6,32,728 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,805 are deceased.  

The new cases were confirmed after conducting COVID-19 tests of 83,763 samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.20 crores (2, 20,89,978) till date.

According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Medchal Malkajgiri, Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar.  The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (77) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Khammam (41,) Karimnagar (35) and 31 from Medchal-Malkajgiri.  With this, the active containment zones also reduced to 33 from the previous 40.

In addition, the majority of the reported COVID-19 cases in Telangana are from districts like Hyderabad, Karimnagar, Khammam, Warangal Urban, Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri and Nalgonda. 

The recovery rate of Telangana is now 98% from the previous 97.99 %.  However, the fatality rate of COVID-19 was increased to 0.59 % from the previous 0.58 %. 

It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.80 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.20 % are symptomatic.   

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the 1st of August, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) discussed the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.  The Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Roa directed the concerned officials to take the necessary measures and control the spread of the Wuhan virus.  The CM also asked the concerned authorities to submit a detailed report regarding the same.
