The Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases are rising rapidly in the Telugu State of Telangana.

On the evening of the 29th of July, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin, informing about the new cases in the past 24 hours.  According to sources, in the past 24 hours, Telangana reported 923 new COVID-19 cases.  The continuous increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the State has set off alarm bells. 

This is the first time after the Omicron wave that the State reported over 900 cases in a single day.  In the past few days also, the number of single day cases are rising.  The State logged 836 and 852 cases on Thursday (the 28th of July) and Wednesday (the 27th of July) respectively.   Besides, COVID-19 positive cases, the number of patients being admitted to the hospital also increased to 190 from the previous 175, on the 29th of July.

Furthermore, as per the medial bulletin, Telangana also registered 739 recovered/discharged cases in 24 hours.  With this, the Telugu State has 5,170 active cases, 8,09,009 recovered cases and 4,111 deceased cases. 

The new data was revealed after conducting 40,593 samples test for the Wuhan virus infection.  Of the new 923 cases, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) reported the highest number of cases with 366, followed by Rangareddy (79) and in Medchal Malkajgiri (59.)  In addition, of the total 33 districts, 15 districts are reporting a spike in the Novel Coronavirus cases with double digit cases every day.

Meanwhile, the recovery rate of the Telugu State of Telangana is at 98.87%.
