Considering the constant rise of the Wuhan virus (COVID-19,) and its new variant Omicron cases, the Telangana Government took a crucial decision.

On the 3rd of January, Monday, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, announced holidays for schools and colleges in the State. 

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government issued an order regarding the same and declared holidays from the 8th of January to the 16th of January 2022.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police Commissioner Mr. C.V. Anand asked police personnel to strictly adhere to COVID -19 safety protocols.  He said, “If anyone is facing health issues, they should inform their superior officers.  Action will be taken against officials who show negligence.  It is our responsibility to take care of the staff.”

The decision to shut all the educational institutions was taken during a review meeting, held on Monday.  The meeting was chaired by Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao and was attended by all the concerned officials of the Health Department. 

Meanwhile, Telangana recorded a major jump in COVID-19 cases on Monday.  The Telugu state reported 482 new COVID-19 positive cases. 

In addition, as of now, Omicron cases also increased to 84 with five new cases, reported on the 2nd of January, Monday.
