The Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus, is continuously under check with every day reported numbering below 300 cases.
On Wednesday evening, the 22nd of September, Telangana reported 258 new cases with one death and 249 recoveries. On the evening of the 22nd of September, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updated about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana. The new cases were confirmed after conducting 55,419 COVID-19 tests of samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.60 crores till date.
With this, Telangana now has 6,64,164 positive cases, of which 4,946 are active cases, 6,55,310 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,908 are deceased.
According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Rangareddy, Warangal and Karimnagar. The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (69,)cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Karimnagar (23)and Rangareddy with 21 cases.
It is to be noted, in the South Indian region, Telangana is the only state with low single day cases of the Wuhan virus. Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, the COVID-19 situation is risky with a high number of cases and above 5,000 active cases.
With the situation under control, the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is preparing for the possible third wave of the deadly virus.
In addition, the recovery rate of Telangana improved to 98.66% from the previous 98.62 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 remained constant for the past one and half month at 0.58 %.
It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic.
