A.R.Rahman’s remixed version of ‘Urvasi Urvasi’ takes internet by a storm!

Urvasi

It’s been more than two decades that A.R.Rahman’s ‘Urvasi Urvasi’ has made listeners groove to its tune. On Wednesday, A.R.Rahman released a ‘reimagined’ version on the seventh season of MTV Unplugged.

The Oscar winning composer, this time made his fans write the lyrics for ‘Charanam’ of the song. Out of more than 1,000 contributions from different fans, he chose four and modified them into the song. The song features Rahman, Suresh Peters (who also sang the original version with Rahman) and also music composer Ranjit Barot.

The original Tamil version of the song was written for the 1994 movie “Kadhalan,” starring PrabhuDeva and Nagma. The original song was written by Vairamuthu for Shankar’s direction.

According to Rahman, the Unplugged version is more contemporary, with references to Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump, Demonetisation and also few Tamil puns. The video already has more than 1.5 million views on Facebook. The song also has some Arabic tunes added to it, only making it better!
