In a major setback to the makers of Adipurush, the All Cine Workers Association called for a ban on the screening of the recently released film.

On the 20th of June, Tuesday, the association wrote to Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, demanding a ban on the nationwide screening of the released film.  The letter read, “Stop screening the movie and immediately order a ban of Adipurush screening in the theatres and OTT platforms in the future.”  The letter further read, “We need FIR against Director Om Raut, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla and the producers of the film..”

The All Cine Workers Association said, the film scenes, screenplay and dialogue allegedly defamed the mythology of Ramayana, Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman.  They also criticised the used VFX saying Ravan also looks like a character of a video game, in the film, with dialogues hurting the religious sentiment of the people, especially Hindus.

The letter concluded with, “Actor Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan shouldn’t have been part of such a disgraceful movie ever made in the history of Indian Cinema, Adipurush is a complete disaster of our faith in Shri Ram and Ramayan.”

Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush was released across the country on June 16 in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil.  It stars Prabhas as Raghav (Ram,) Kriti Sanon as Janaki (Sita) and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh (Ravan.)

Furthermore, despite being claimed to be a disaster and having bad reviews, the film has managed to make a whooping box office collection of Rs. 300 crores.
