Emraan Hashmi’s “Azhar”: OU students disrupt shoot

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi escaped an attack from the mob during the shoot of his upcoming film “Azhar”, being directed by Tony D’Souza. The incident took place at Osmania University in Hyderabad on Sunday morning. Nearly 2000 union members disrupted the shoot of the film. The makers planned a four-day schedule for the courtroom sequence at the university.

It is heard that there was some miscommunication among the 32 unions of the institution and since early morning, as many as 4000 members of the union were stationed outside the gate. It is also learnt that it was a scary moment for the cast and crew of the film. It is also heard that the management of the university was was co-operative but the incident was quite disturbing.

As per reports, the actor and the director were locked in a room until the police arrived and escorted them to a safe place. Actresses Nargis Fakhri, Prachi Desai and Lara Dutta were also sent back to the hotel due to the agitation.

“Azhar” is a biopic on Indian cricketer Mohd. Azharuddin. The regular shooting was kick-started and was also shot in London. Now, the unit headed to Hyderabad to shoot major portions of the movie. The director said that they are yet to decide the next plan of action and will scout for another location for the courtroom sequence as they don’t want to waste the time.
