Thiruvananthapuram: National award-winning actress Kalpana passed away this morning in Hyderabad due to heart attack. 51-year-old actress was in Hyderabad for the shooting of a film and to attend the IIFA award function.
The actress was seen in 300 movies including recent superhit ‘Charlie’. She was declared dead at a hospital around 7am. The actress’ body is expected to be brought to Kerala later today. She is survived by her daughter.
Kalpana had received National award in the best supporting actress for her performance in ‘Thanichala Njan’ (2012).
Sister of actor Urvashi and Kalaranjini, Kalpana forayed into the Malayalam films as a child actor in ‘Vidarunne
Mottukul’ in 1977. Among her other Malayalam hits are ‘Ennum Eppuzhum’, ‘Karnavar’, ‘Dolfins’, ‘Bangalore Days’ and ‘Spirit’.
‘Kakki Sattai’, ‘Idhaya Thiruda’, ‘Sathi Leelavathi’ and ‘Chinna Veedu’ are among her Tamil films.
